May 26th – 29th, 2023
Westerville Sports Complex
325 N. Cleveland Ave., Westerville, OH 43081
The Westerville Community Center always provides facilities for classes, meetings and activities benefiting area residents. However, each May the Westerville Sunrise Rotary Club adds an inspiring activity that unites the community by paying tribute to heroes who so often may be taken for granted.
During the days leading up to Memorial Day, the grounds of the Westerville Sports Complex, which normally serve as the site for sports, are transformed into the Westerville Field of Honor® Flag Display featuring 3,000 United States flags flying over its rolling green lawns. Walking amid the ordered rows of flying flags inspires visitors with a visual and emotional experience that is hard to explain but not to be forgotten. This year we will be honoring active-duty military, fallen servicemen and women, first responders, education, humanity, essential workers, heroes in our lives, veterans, and hometown heroes.
The panorama of red, white & blue reminds us of the true meaning of Memorial Day as a holiday to remember and honor our military, veterans and all heroes who serve and sacrifice to defend and protect us.
There is no charge to visit this awe-inspiring display; however, those wishing to honor a hero and support the Westerville Field of Heroes may sponsor a posted flag or purchase a flag to be posted and retained by the sponsor at the close of the event. Visit the Field of Heroes website at the link: www.fieldofheroes.org for more information. Proceeds from the flag sponsorship and sales make this flag display possible and benefit the programs of Westerville Sunrise Rotary Foundation.
