May 22nd – June 13th 2021
North Andover Town Common, Massachusetts Ave, North Andover, MA
During the second week of May through June, 500 U.S. flags will stand posted in the Town Common to Commemorate Flag Day. Significantly, North Andover’s roots stretch back over 130 years before the Continental Congress formally adopted the Stars and Stripes as the flag of a new nation. This historic community in Essex County has witnessed the growth of the United States from thirteen British American Colonies to a mighty nation as the histories of North Andover and the United Sates intertwine. The flag’s thirteen stripes symbolize the thirteen colonies that created the United States, and the stars displayed in the canton stand for fifty states united in aspirations and a common heritage.
This stirring display will bring the community together in a patriotic tribute to honor Active-Duty Military, Fallen Servicemen & Women, First Responders, Humanitarian, Essential Workers, Heroes in Our Lives, all Veterans and our Hometown Heroes. Each flag represents an individual and tells a story. Flags may be sponsored to honor these individuals who have become our heroes.
The North Andover Field of Honor® display is a gift to the community made possible through donations, sponsorships and the efforts of many dedicated volunteers. You can show your support and gratitude by sponsoring a flag or making a donation.
This is an experience hard to describe, but never to be forgotten. We invite all to visit the North Andover Field of Honor® display and walk with us among the posted flags. The display is open to all without charge. Don’t miss it!
