Honoring the United States Flag has served the Mt. Juliet Field of Honor® as the appropriate motto and focus for 8 years now, and nothing fits this tribute better in 2020 than honoring the men and women who have placed themselves in harm’s way to defend, protect and serve us. The men and women of our Armed Forces and those who have worn the uniforms of our military give the flag its meaning trough their service and sacrifice. Amid uncertainty and challenges created by the pandemic, we also recognize COVID-19 heroes working long hours under horrendous conditions. All these individuals honor the flag, and it is fitting to fly Old Glory to honor them.
Requirements to slow and halt the spread of COVID-19 remain critical, and our team has and will take all appropriate precautions to do our part. Consequently, we are unable to hold any group gatherings, programs or ceremonies this year; however, we look forward to resuming them in the future.
The Exchange Club of Wilson County and American Legion Post 281 join together to present this gift to Heart of Middle Tennessee residents, which is made possible by volunteers, patrons and sponsors. Hundreds of flags fly proudly creating a vista, which may be visited free, that is inspiring and memorable
At the close of the event, sponsors will retain the flags they dedicated to honor individuals. The Mt. Juliet display is a gift to the community made possible through donations, sponsorships and the efforts of many dedicated volunteers. While this is not the usual fund-raising event, flags may still be purchased for $35 and donations will be accepted.
Visiting the Mt. Juliet Field of Honor® symbolizes our unity in fighting to overcome COVID-19, and the vista of 200 flags flying in our community offers hope, peace and reassurance that we will achieve victory over pandemic. You may visit the Field of Honor® flag display while viewing the formation of flags from cars, or by walking through the ordered rows of flags following social distancing by keeping a six-foot interval between you and other visitors to the event. Thank you for joining us as we all continue to do our part.
The impact of this event is hard to adequately describe, but once experienced it is not, especially this year, to be forgotten. Don’t miss it.
