Eagle’s 14-year Field of Honor® tradition continues despite pandemic “challenges everyone is facing.” Requirements to slow and halt the spread of COVID-19 remain critical, consequently we are unable to hold opening ceremonies this year, and we will take all appropriate precautions to do our part in keeping visitors safe.
Project Chair Kathy Coburn noted, “We believe [the Field of Honor® display] is an event people need at this time.” The statewide “Stay at Home Order,” has given us opportunity to reflect how much honor and respect we owe to those who through their service and sacrifice have become our heroes. This has been the message of Eagle Field of Honor® flag display since 2008, and 2020 gives increased meaning as hundreds of United States flags fly over Reid Merrill Park.
The vista of red, white and blue is hard to adequately describe, but in 2020 the experience takes on added significance. There is no charge to visit the Field of Honor® display, and all are invited to view the ordered rows of flags that stand in formation to honor heroes who have earned our thanks.
Flags are sponsored for $35 with the sponsors retaining the flags at the close of the event, which can then be displayed in surrounding communities as mementos of this awe-inspiring display.
Eagle’s Field of Honor® display is a gift to the community made possible through donations, sponsorships and the efforts of dedicated volunteers. You can show your support and gratitude by sponsoring a flag or making a donation. The flags will be on display over the days surrounding Memorial Day. Please support and visit Eagle’s 14th Annual Field of Honor®. For more information, you can visit www.eaglefieldofhonor.org
