River Road Park/Jacobus Vanderveer House, 3055 River Road, Bedminster, NJ 07921
Dating back to the early 1770s, the Jacobus Venderveer House has known times of uncertainty and challenge. When General Henry Knox made the Vanderveer House his headquarters, he had no knowledge of how the American Revolutionary War would conclude. He only knew that he and the Continental Army artillery, which he commanded, had a role to play in earning victory.
Today, amid worldwide pandemic, the United States and New Jersey have experienced uncertainty and challenge. Like General Knox, our vision of the future is cloudy, but we have seen countless medical providers and first line community service support workers step forward in the face of dangerous and grueling conditions. Like General Knox and the Continental Army, these modern heroes understand the role they play in achieving victory over COVID-19.
The Bedminster Field of Honor pays tribute to military, veterans and COVID-19 heroes who through service and sacrifice have earned honor and appreciation. Honor and thanks build the message of the flags flying at the Jacobus Vanderveer House Field of Honor ® event during the past three years, and the message has grown stronger as we profoundly recognize our heroes.
Flags may be sponsored for $40, and the sponsors will retain the flags at the close of the event, which can then be displayed as mementos of this awe-inspiring event. The funds raised through this Field of Honor® event will benefit the Jacobus Vanderveer House.
Everyone is invited to visit the ordered rows of U.S. flags so that the mature may honor and remember, and the youth may learn & gain appreciation. The Bedminster display is a gift to the community made possible through donations, sponsorships and the efforts of many dedicated volunteers. You can show your support and gratitude by sponsoring a flag or making a donation.
