Area visitors to West Jordan’s Veterans Park have experienced many inspiring displays featuring the United States flag and flags of the U.S. Armed Forces to honor past conflicts; however, in the wake of the current battles to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic, a new display of national flags flies honoring the nations impacted by this deadly virus. Posted along the roadway of Veterans Park leading to the memorial the flags may be viewed, keeping social distancing, by remaining in their cars. The park also offers large grassy areas where families may maintain social distancing from other groups.
As COVID-19 spread from the East to the West around the globe, more victims have died daily in many locations than were killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11th of 2001. Amid overwhelmed medical facilities the number of daily deaths spiked, which caused nations to issue stay at home and quarantine orders to slow and stop the spread of disease.
A World United – Healing Hunger international flag display offers the opportunity to not only honor worldwide trials and struggles, but also to join in raising funds helping the Utah Food Banks feed Utahns.
