This inspiring and memorable display will draw together residents of Medford and Burlington County to honor the heroes who have touched our lives and served our community and our nation.
Arranged in perfectly symmetrical rows, each one will have been sponsored by a resident or business in honor of a hometown hero: perhaps a family member who gave their life in service to our nation; perhaps a first responder who saves lives and touches our community every day, or maybe a beloved family member or friend who currently wears a uniform to keep our nation safe.
Medford Sunrise held the county’s first Field of Honor® over Memorial Day week, 2019. Hundreds of people sponsored a flag in the name of a person whom they nominated as having exhibited Service Above Self. It included family members who died in the service to our nation; persons currently serving in the military; first responders who keep our community safe and who respond in all weather to emergencies; a teacher; and people who had demonstrated Service Above Self by touching the lives of others.
The 2020 Burlington County Field of Honor® attracted even more attention, including wide-ranging TV, press and social media coverage.
On Saturday, May 28, 2022 Rotarians and community volunteers will erect over 320 full-size American flags on 7 1/2 foot flag poles in Freedom Park—in perfectly symmetrical rows. Medallions will be placed on flags with details of the nominated “heroes.” The Field of Honor® will remain for a week, from May 29 through June 3, 2022.
Our Flags will honor all Active-Duty Military, Fallen Servicemen and Women, and Ukraine.
