For the 8th straight year, the Merced Sunrise Rotary Club hosts their Veterans Day Field of Honor® flag display. As in each previous year the flags will honor military and veterans with focus on those who served in Vietnam. Additionally, first responders may also be honored. This not only pays tribute to those who defend and serve us, but it presents a moving display in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley.
The “Field of Honor” is one way of saying “Thank You” for the service … provided on our behalf.
Merced’s Healing Field® flag display is a gift to the community made possible by the dedicated Rotarian’s, volunteers, businesses and individual flag sponsors. You may support this meaningful event by sponsoring a flag to honor a person who has earned our thanks.
Please join us in walking through the ordered rows and columns of the beautiful formation of flags. This must be personally experienced to be fully appreciated. There is no cost to visit the Merced Healing Field® display. Please come bringing your family, friends and associates.

The District will celebrate a new era for the 67-year old campus with the ceremony at the newly enhanced entrance on Community College Drive starting at 5 p.m.
“This project was made possible by a generous donation from the Toney Family as well as other members of our community. It was spearheaded by Chuck Fennessy who is a former veteran and long-time member of the Merced College Foundation. Without Chuck’s tireless advocacy, I’m not sure this project would have gotten built so soon” said Merced College Foundation President, Joe Doyland. “I can’t remember a Foundation meeting over the last 5 years where Mr. Fennessy didn’t get up and rally to have those flags moved to a prominent space on campus. He knew our veteran students deserved better and now his dream is a reality.”
