Despite COVID-19 health restrictions, Colonial Foundation has remains determined to produce the Utah Healing Field® flag display for the 19th straight year.  Following pandemic guidance:

  • Programs and ceremonies traditionally drawing large audiences are postponed until next year’s 20th Anniversary Healing Field® commemoration.
  • Spacing between flags will allow extra space for social distancing in 2020.
  • Flags are mailed to sponsors at event’s close to allow touch-less distribution.

1,500 United States Flags will fly proudly on 7½ flagstaffs to honor our heroes.

A growing and progressive city, Sandy has become synonymous with Colonial Flag Foundation’s Healing Field® flag display events.  The Sandy City Promenade  provides an ideal location that could not have been laid out better for the annual display.

Originating in Sandy on the first anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks of 2001, the Utah Healing Field® flag display inspired other communities to host Healing Field® displays, and the event’s creators established the Colonial Flag Foundation to bring the inspiring display of the Stars & Stripes to hundreds of communities around the nation.

Throughout the years, Sandy City has supported the succession of inspirational flag displays that draws Utahns to the lawns south of their City Hall for September days surrounding  Patriot Day.

Increased health security measures could have curtailed the annual Utah Healing Field® display; however, the traditional panorama of red, white & blue will fly in the Sandy to welcome visitors who may view the flags from the roadway surrounding the Promenade or have ample room for social distancing while walking among the flag.  The usual concert, program and ceremonies will be saved for future events when we honor the victory over COVID-19.

The Utah Healing Field® display is a gift to the community made possible through donations, sponsorships and the efforts of many dedicated volunteers. Please support the event by sponsoring a flag or making an online donation.

A sea of posted American flags will honor those who died when terrorists seized airplanes and crashed them into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and on a grassy field in Pennsylvania.

The Sandy Prominade was created years before the first Healing Field® display of 2002. However, the grassy lawn of the two blocks immediately south of Sandy City Hall could not have been better laid out to accommodate the nations first and original Healing Field® event. Likewise, the Sandy City government (https://bit.ly/2LqCXNM) could not be more supportive of the amazing panorama of flags.
